About

Matthew Barbato is an American editor, producer, and director with over two decades of film-making experience. Most recently, he returned to season 4 of Only Murders in the Building after previously editing on season 1 of the show.

Beyond Only Murders in the Building, Matthew has a diverse range of editing credits on several award-winning television series across comedy and drama, including Lessons in Chemistry, The Good Place, Veep, High Fidelity, and Dave. His other recent credits include Disney+'s American Born Chinese, Netflix's The Kominsky Method and Peacock's Apples Never Fall.

Initially, Matthew's professional career took off in 2001, when his work on Trauma: Life in the E.R. received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a non-fiction program.

Matthew's professional credits are not limited to the editing sphere; his varied career includes shooting and directing verité – as is evident in Anthony Bourdain's first television series, A Cook's Tour, for which he acted as camera operator and director.
